Urban Hotdog Company
Albuquerque, NM
June 12, 2018
I'm not sure what is "urban" about UHDC. Their location is the suburban Albuquerque Westside. Their service/hospitality are small-town friendly, and the care/quality of their food has mom&pop level pride in the product. I guess the "urban" may be in the decor with its industrial style, but even that is more urbane than the hard, gritty, edgy, impersonal experience of most large urban centers I've experienced.
I'm not going to hold their name against them, as everything not "urban" about them makes them worth visiting again and again. I realized this is my third time in and I hadn't given them a review, too busy enjoying the fare to write home about it, I guess!
My favorite offerings are Le Bleu, a bacon-wrapped dog smothered in mushrooms and bleu cheese, and the Truffle Fries (also smothered in bleu cheese...) these are savory, rich, and filling offerings, the combination of which will keep me full for most of a day, despite their seeming compactness. Everything we've tried on the menu so far is excellent, and it is actually my ambition to try their whole menu, because this is art in hotdog form.
