The Egg and I
Albuquerque, NM

The good:
Our first visit here was wonderful, with an impressive variety of breakfast options. That menu is still pretty impressive.
The ranch potatoes are pretty tasty.
The large dining room is clean and convivial.
The bad:
On our visit today, the hostess took us to a table, and when I asked for a booth in the 3/4 empty dining room, she told me none of the servers for the booths were in the restaurant yet. However, there were a smattering of filled booths throughout the restaurant, and every other hostess in the place actually gave their customer an option.
The flatware all rolled up in our napkins had clean spoons and forks, but both our knives were completely nasty with not only visible water spots, but strings of cheese and sauce splatters baked hard onto the metal.
Food quality was vastly different between our two visits.
The eggy:
Our first experience of omelettes and scrambles here was quite good, actually. I know one of us had the Athena Scramble, which I would likely recommend again. This go-round Raz had the Egg-Ceptional Omelette, which I found tasty even if the exterior was a little on the dry side. Raz found it bland. My Tuscan Scramble sounded better in the description than it tasted when I tucked into it. The scramble was fluffy-ish, but less than exciting texturally speaking, and the bouquet of flavors was obviously too subtle for even my delicate palate, because Raz's omelette was exploding with flavor in comparison.
We rarely write a review so low, but we were seriously disheartened by the inconsistency in food quality. Plus, dirty utensils really make one concerned about the quality control in the kitchen and food safety in general.
