Sundae - Vail

Vail, CO

October 20, 2018

I'm not one for ice cream in cold weather, but Raz is, so when we saw site-made small-batch ice cream when we were adventuring through Vail, he insisted we stop in and try it. We didn't have any toppings mixed into our scoops, since I didn't realize at the time that they do that. Thus, my avocado coconut and his Caramelized Banana had to get by on their own merits.

Mine was smooth and rich, like all good things made with avocado should be, but neither the avocado nor the coconut flavors really made themselves bold or memorable. Despite being able to smell the Banana in Raz's cup from across the street, that flavor wasn't precisely bold either. Perhaps my tastebuds were simply frozen before I even put the ice cream on them, or perhaps the local palate runs to deep subtlety.

Any way you dish it, though, it's smooth, rich, creamy, small-batch ice cream made local to the store, so it gets the fourth star for its freshness.
