Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip
Alamosa, CO

We crossed through a parade to get ourselves some tasty ice cream and coffee drinks while on a road trip through what is becoming our favorite section of Colorado.
We have a lot of forgiveness in our hearts for how scattered the two amusing counter staff were on the day of our visit, after all, they no doubt wanted to be out enjoying the parade and the long list of celebratory festivities that nobody does like a small college town. They did manage to put our orders together without mistakes, despite some abject confusion with the equipment and the new processes for making various items. We initially figured that we had been the source of bafflement, despite our relatively simple order, but we heard the exact level of disorientation with the next group that wandered in at the parade's conclusion. We chalk it all up to the menu design, which is vast and requires mastery of at least a half-dozen kitchen contraptions.
Our coffee drinks were decent if super-sweet, but nothing to write home about. The same was true of our ice cream concoctions. The ice cream was obviously not small-batch hand-made, but we weren't expecting that at a franchise operation. The cookies that went into my ice cream sandwich were obviously fresh baked, though, which put them in a quality class above the ice cream. If we're hungry for a full meal when we next pass through, we would be willing to come back for some of their savory options, but this is definitely not a spot worth planning a road trip around.
