Kenabelle's Kreations
Cloudcroft, NM
May 26, 2018
We breezed in about a half-hour before closing on an extremely busy day, so we were unsurprised that little selection remained. We opted to split a lime cupcake and had it bagged to eat after some further venturing about downtown Cloudcroft. It's important to note this circumstance, because I would have gone back and eaten/reviewed half the pastries in the shop or more had Kenabelle's still been open when I finished the cupcake.I like frosting, especially cream cheese frosting. I generally like it better than the cakes it's generally served on. This is the first and only time I have encountered a frosting/cake ratio that had me questioning whether there was too much frosting, but that's only because the cake was so completely amazing. The cake portion of the cupcake was an amazingly light and fluffy sponge that exploded with lime flavor and sweetness. The mountain of frosting was, in contrast, only lightly accented with lime, and richly decadent in its semi-sweet cream cheesiness. The whole creation was topped with a not-quite-candied lime slice which added the perfect, bright punch to the decadent frosting. We will be back to try more of Kennabelle's Kreations, even though it's a 4-plus hour drive to Cloudcroft.
