Who are we?

aboutus

If you are one of the millions who share our hobby of using super high-tech personal electronics and military-grade satellites to wander around looking for often hand-made, repurposed, and recycled receptacles with paper logs hidden inside in unlikely places, we can just  say that we are ABQRaz and that would be sufficient explanation. For any reader who has not already heard of geocaching, it is a worldwide hobby begun in 2001 to encourage public use of the (then) newly open GPS technology. As a side effect, the hobby got nerds, geeks, and technophiles of all stripes from in front of our computers and into the great, wide world. We proudly proclaim our status as geocachers, and use this hobby to fuel and direct our own passion for travel. Along our travels, we have learned that we are also foodies and experts at packing light. The vast majority of the words you will see here were once ink-and-paper scrawls by Imbri, who has been a hobbyist critic from a very young age. The photos are mostly the work of Raz, who used to be a professional photographer a long time ago and on a different continent. Since those humble and disparate beginnings, we somehow found our way to one another in Albuquerque, NM, where (as fate would have it) we are both skilled and respected nurses. Our professions only further encourage our desires to seek out new people, places, and experiences. After all, greater understanding of our world makes us better at understanding those we care for.

Why Cache and Carry-on?

This is intended as a blog about our travels and discoveries in search of the elusive geocaches we so crave finding. We pack light, and hop at any chance for adventure. After all, if one is going to spend the greater part of a vacation driving, delving caverns, and bush whacking through blackberry bramble, there is no need for forty potential costume changes. Geocaching is also intended as a leave-no-trace means of exploring our world, be that urban or wild. We carry out what litter we can and leave none of our own when we search for caches, so that others may carry on and enjoy the world as we have experienced it.
